More Than a Portfolio

We Build Financial Plans, Not Just Portfolios Alone.

Real financial planning connects every part of your money, income, taxes, investments, insurance, and estate, into one strategy that works together. Our team helps you:
Working with us means a local Ocala team that sees the whole picture, so the pieces fit together instead of working against each other.

Financial Planning Considerations

Six considerations we evaluate together

These six considerations are the barriers most likely to stand between a plan and the goals behind it. We review where you stand on each one, then examine how they could affect your assets today and over the years ahead.

  • Longevity

The risk that a long life outlasts the assets meant to support it.

  • Liquidity

Whether funds can be reached quickly when an unexpected need arises.

  • Inflation

The gradual erosion of purchasing power as the cost of living rises.

  • Market

A decline in asset values arriving at the moment withdrawals are needed.

  • Mortality

The financial impact on a household after the death of a spouse or partner.

  • Taxes

Rising tax burdens reducing income today and the legacy left behind.

Investment Planning Process

How we put a plan into motion

A repeatable process keeps decisions grounded in your goals rather than the headline of the week. Select a stage to see what happens in it.

Step 1

Discover

Gather what matters: your goals, obligations, existing accounts, and how much market movement you can comfortably live with.

Value at Risk Analysis

Putting a number on your risk threshold

Before we recommend anything, we work out how much market movement you can absorb without losing sleep or changing course. A Value at Risk analysis turns that into a score, so the conversation is about a specific number rather than a vague sense of caution.

Value at Risk comparison. Current portfolio scores 85 to 90 with $200,000 at risk. Proposed portfolio scores 35 to 40 with $80,000 at risk. Scale runs from 0-20 conservative to 80-100 aggressive.
Hypothetical illustration. Figures are for demonstration only and do not represent any particular client or account.

What the score means

The analysis produces a VaR score indexed from conservative to aggressive. It reflects tolerance for both the size and the speed of a potential loss, not just an overall appetite for risk.

How we use it

Comparing the score against your current allocation shows whether the portfolio you hold matches the risk you actually want. Where the two diverge, that gap is the starting point for the conversation.

AssetLock®

Watching the portfolio between reviews

AssetLock® monitors your household portfolio value and notifies both you and your advisor when it crosses a level you set in advance. The aim is to keep the portfolio and your risk tolerance aligned, rather than discovering a mismatch at the next scheduled review.

How AssetLock® works

The example below starts with a portfolio of $100,000. A 10% AssetLock® Threshold sets the starting AssetLock® Value at $90,000. As the portfolio grows to a High-Water Value of $146,793, the AssetLock® Value rises with it to $132,114. If the portfolio then falls back through $132,114, you and your advisor are both alerted so the allocation can be discussed.

Chart showing a portfolio starting at $100,000 with an AssetLock Value of $90,000. The portfolio rises to a High-Water Value of $146,793 and the AssetLock Value steps up to $132,114, at which point an alert is triggered.
Hypothetical example for illustration only. It does not represent any particular client, account, or actual performance.

Important AssetLock® Disclosure

AssetLock® is tracking software used to monitor the performance of a client’s household portfolio, and to predetermine the amount of downside the client is willing to tolerate. It is NOT an actual stop order and will NOT automatically sell the individual securities in the household portfolio. The AssetLock® Value is a reference point to encourage a conversation between the advisor/firm and the client to determine if the client’s household portfolio should remain unchanged, reset the AssetLock® Threshold by reallocating to a different risk profile, or liquidate part or all of their household portfolio. AssetLock® will send the client and their advisor alerts when the household portfolio reaches the client’s determined values, new all-time highs and/or the maximum targeted amount of downside the client is willing to accept. The client and their advisor are notified about changes in the client’s household portfolio. This notification requires that the client is subscribed to receive text message and/or email alerts from AssetLock®. Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply.

Common Questions

Financial planning, answered

It is a coordinated strategy for your whole financial life, income, taxes, investments, insurance, and estate, rather than a single product or account. We start by understanding your goals, then build and maintain a plan designed to reach them.

Good planning is for people who want to be intentional with what they have, at every stage. The best time to build a plan is before a major decision, not after. We are happy to talk through your situation at no cost so you can decide if it is a fit.

CFP® professionals complete rigorous education, testing, and experience requirements and are held to a fiduciary standard, meaning we are obligated to put your interests first. It is a meaningful difference when you are trusting someone with your future.

Investing is one piece. A plan decides how much to save, how to draw income, how to manage taxes, how to protect against risk, and how your investments should be positioned to support all of it. The plan gives the portfolio a purpose.

We will walk you through exactly how we are compensated in your first meeting, in plain language, before you commit to anything. Transparency is part of being a fiduciary.

We are proud to be based in Ocala and serve families throughout Marion County and Central Florida. We also work with clients all across the country. Many clients meet with us both in person and virtually, whichever is easier for you.
